Virginia “Sissie” Avery Nelson, 86, wife of the late Curtis Wade Nelson, Sr., entered her eternal home in Heaven while surrounded by family on November 26, 2025.
Virginia was born on April 18, 1939, in Clinton, South Carolina and was the daughter of the late Ludie Frank Avery and Lucille Metts Avery. She was a member of Langston Baptist Church and had attended Bellview Baptist Church for as long as she was able to attend church.
She is survived by her son Wade Nelson (Angie), her daughter Wanda Freeman (Tim); she was known as Mamie by her grandchildren, Chris Nelson (Melissa), Josh Nelson, and Justin Freeman (Sarah); three great-grandchildren, which were her pride and joy, Cayden Wade Nelson, Emma Grace Nelson, and Camden Lily Nelson; her sister, Lynda Penland (Larry), and brother, Jimmy Avery; a sister-in-law, Polly Avery (Frank).
She was preceded in death by her great-grandson, Landon Nelson; her sister, Geraldine Morris of Newberry SC, and brothers Joe, Frank, Doug, George, Mack, and Bobby Avery of Clinton SC.
A funeral service will be held at Bellview Baptist Church on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at 3:00 PM with Rev. Jim Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow at Bellview Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the church prior to the service.
