Thelma P. Wilson
LAURENS, SC – Thelma Phillips Wilson, 96, of Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center in Laurens, SC, formerly of Spartanburg, SC, passed away Friday, July 12, 2013 at Martha Franks. Born in Gulfport, Mississippi and raised in Monroe, NC she was the daughter of William Beatty and Maude Lawhon Phillips. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold D. Wilson, and three sisters, Lucille Beane, Mae Tidy, and Elsie Beaty. She retired from Parrott’s Flowers and also worked at Wayside Gardens, Crosby’s Jewelry and Dixie Shirt Company. At the time of her death she was a member of Boiling Springs First Baptist Church, and had previously been a member of Southside Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Spartanburg and was also a charter member of Morningside Baptist Church, Spartanburg. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Christian Women’s Club, of Spartanburg.
Mrs. Wilson is survived by her loving daughters, Sandy and her husband Jim Green of Mount Pleasant, SC and Becky Wilson of Columbia, SC, two grandchildren, Scott Green and his wife Lisa of Island Lake, IL and Kelly Smith and her husband Carey of Alvin, TX. Also surviving are seven great-grandchildren, Austin, Lauren, Ethan, Josh, Tim, and Kaitlyn Smith and Savannah Green.
Graveside service will be held 10:00 AM, Monday, July 15, 2013 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Spartanburg, SC. The service will be conducted by Rev. Michael Hensley and Dr. Russell Dean. The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Thelma Wilson will be held the same day at Rasor Chapel Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center in Laurens, SC at 3:00 PM.
