Susan Turner Allman

Susan Turner Allman, 68, of Irmo, South Carolina, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Susan was a devoted educator who spent 33 years shaping the lives of her students before embracing a joyful retirement. In her later years, she found great happiness in traveling, especially on cruises, but nothing brought her more joy than time spent with her five beloved grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Jackie Turner. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Bill Allman; her three children, Turner Allman, Ryan Allman, and Sarah Allman; her daughters-in-law, Carlie Allman, Megan Allman, and Qi Gao; her brother, Sam Turner; her sister-in-law, Ann Turner; her niece, Crystal Turner; and her cherished grandchildren, Reagan, Whit, Morgan, Hembree, and Hailee Allman.

Susan’s greatest love was her family. She treasured traditions, especially the annual family trips to Edisto, which held a special place in her heart. She attended Lander College, where she met her husband and formed lifelong friendships that she carried with her throughout the years.

Born on Saint Patrick’s Day, Susan had a natural fondness for the color green—perhaps a reflection of her vibrant spirit and her love of gardening. She had a true gift for nurturing both plants and people, and her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and unconditional love. She adored animals, including her dogs, cats, and grand-dogs.

Whether in the classroom or as “Gigi,” Susan believed in allowing children to be themselves—to explore, to learn, and to grow. She created spaces where joy and curiosity thrived. Her mornings were never complete without a cup of coffee, and her days were defined by the care she gave so freely to others.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 8, at 3:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 4:00 p.m. at Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Laurens, 500 W. Main Street, Laurens, South Carolina. A graveside service will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 765 E. Main Street, Laurens, South Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to your local animal shelter, such as Pet’s Inc. or Final Victory Animal Rescue, in honor of Susan’s love for animals.

Susan’s legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to family will live on in all who knew and loved her.
