Sandra Alexander Jenkins

Sandra “Sandy” Alexander Jenkins, 81, widow of George Vernon Jenkins was born on March 20, 1944, to the late Frank and Genola Alexander. She entered her eternal home surrounded by the love she so freely gave throughout her life.

Sandy was a faithful and devoted member of Bethesda Baptist Church for 71 years and served as Clerk of the church for more than 40 years of that time. Saved at the young age of 11, her walk with the Lord was steady, unwavering, and evident in everything she did. Her faith was not just something she spoke about, it was something she lived daily through kindness, generosity, and a servant’s heart.

She loved her family fiercely and cherished her church family just as deeply. To know Sandy was to be loved by her. She never met a stranger, and everyone who crossed her path felt the warmth of her smile and the sincerity of her care. If she loved you — and she loved just about everyone — she showed it the best way she knew how, by feeding you. Her kitchen was a place of comfort, filled with laughter, stories, and the aroma of the most delicious homemade cakes and pies you could ever taste. Many will forever associate the sweetness of her desserts with the sweetness of her spirit. More than anything, Sandy’s life was a reflection of grace. She taught her family about faith, perseverance, compassion, and the importance of loving others well. Her legacy lives on in the recipes she passed down, the prayers she prayed over her family, and the countless lives she touched. Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice knowing she is whole and at peace in the presence of her Savior. As our nanny always said, "We want to thank the Lord for his many blessings”.

Sandy is survived by her brother, David Franklin Alexander, three grandchildren, Karly Cassada (Adam), Kerry Jenkins (Michael), Kymberlee Jenkins (Caleb); her great grandchildren, Nolan Cassada, Bowman Cassada, Noah Yarborough, Rose Yarborough, and Aty Yarborough; her great-great granddaughter, Oaklynn Workman; nieces and nephews, David Michael Alexander (Agatta), Jessica Renee Alexander, great niece, Eliana Alexander and great nephew, Hunter Brown.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her son, Darrell Vernon Jenkins.
