Robert Elliott "Blake" Blakely

Robert Elliott “Blake” Blakely, age 67, of 2150 Hwy 308, passed away Monday, December 7, 2015 at NHC of Laurens.
He was born in Washington, D.C. and was a son of the late Elbert Erskine and Irene Powell Blakely.
Blake enjoyed playing his guitar and writing lyrics. He briefly worked in the music industry as a sound technician. He worked in many jobs that required physical labor before his motorcycle accident, which caused his paralysis. He spent the rest of his life overseeing his farm on Hwy 308, where he and his wife enjoyed rescuing many dogs, cats and horses.
He is survived by his wife, Gail Saavedra Blakely of the home; his brother, Richard E. Blakely of Houston, TX, and his sisters, Susie Neville (Joseph) of Rockville, Maryland, Patti Blakely of Philadelphia, PA, and Barbara Maestas (Gary) of San Francisco, CA.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Judy Higgs.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
