Rita Y. Shelton

Rita Y. Shelton, age 84, of Clinton, passed away Thursday, October 22, 2026, at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born December 24, 1941, in Clinton, SC, she was the daughter of the late Fred R. Shelton and Sarah Alford Shelton.

Rita retired from Clinton Mills after 34 years of dedicated service. Above all else, she loved her family. They were the center of her world, and nothing brought her greater happiness than the time she spent with those she loved. She held a special place in her heart for her great-granddaughter, Eloise, whom she lovingly called her “princess.”

She is survived by her children, Vernon Cecil Tucker, Jr. of Clinton and Tanya Rose of Inman; her sisters, Lila Raye Simmons of Ora and Emily Gail Robertson (Jimmy) of Ora; her grandchildren, Melody Baker, Justin Baker (Autumn), and Cody Baker; and her beloved great-granddaughter, Eloise Baker.

Graveside services will be held Sunday, October 25, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Pinelawn Memory Gardens with Rev. Don Peake officiating.
