Rev. H. Sherrill Green 79, passed away Monday, July 21, 2025 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood, SC.
He was born in Honea Path, SC on September 5, 1945 and was the son of the late Rev. James Harley and Ruth Lyda Green.
He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Gail Gambrell Green of Clinton, SC and three children, seven grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; daughter, Sherry Green Phillips (Stephen) and her children Caleb (Kasandra) and Joshua (Jessalyn) of Graniteville, SC; son, Daniel Green and his children Zachery of High Falls, GA, Silas of Pensacola, FL., daughters Adah (Jen) of Pensacola, FL and Amelia Green Burke (Paul) of North Dakota with their four sons (great-grandchildren) Luke, Beckham, Deacon and Caden; and daughter, Mary Delaney (Tim) and her child Rowan of Honea Path, SC. Sherrill is also survived by his brother Roger Dale Green of Honea Path, SC.
He was the youngest of a family of 9 children. He was preceded in death by his brothers, James Timothy Green, Gordon Green and Dallas Green and his sisters: Esther Watson, Doris Hall, Emily McKee, and Rachel Autry.
Sherrill pastored many churches the past 50 years. He served in the United States Army Reserve. He liked fishing, hunting, golfing, and especially vacationing with Gail and his family.
Sherrill was licensed to preach 1975; Ordained into the Ministry 1977 and graduated from Holmes Bible College in 1978. Sherrill served the Upper South Carolina Conference IPHC filling key roles such as Assistant Superintendent, Christian Education Director and executive council member. He was privileged to serve under six USCC Bishops during this time.
Sherrill and his wife Gail have been highly honored to pastor at the following churches in the USCC IPHC: Gum Spring, Gloverville, Ninety Six, South Greenwood, Clinton First, Emmanuel Praise and Worship and Interim Pastor at the following Barton Memorial, New Life, Belton and Sharon.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Clinton First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Funeral Services for Sherrill will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at 6:00 PM at Clinton First Pentecostal Church with Rev. Mark Entrekin, Bishop Ray Boggs and Pastor Stephen Phillips. Fellow Ministers will serve as honorary pallbearers. Private family burial will be on Friday, July 25, 2025 at Eastview Cemetery in Honea Path, SC.
