Ralph Vernon Wallen

Ralph Vernon Wallen, age 91, of Whitmire, SC, husband of Barbara Maness Wallen, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2023 at his home.
Born August 24, 1932 in Blackwater, VA, he was a son of the late Fred and Ethel Willis Wallen. Ralph was a proud US Army Veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict. After his military service, he started his career at Carlisle Finishing, where he retired after many years of hard work. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon and also enjoyed working with the youth.
In addition to his wife of 63 years, he is survived by his son, Dennis Wallen of Columbia; his brother, Charlie Wallen of Whitmire; his nieces, Christy Fincher, Melanie Berry, Jo Nell Wallen and Sandy Garner; his nephews, Lane Maness and Larry Wallen; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Josh, Ethan, Whitney, and Arlen; his great-great nephew, River Berry; and his fur-baby, Cooper Wallen.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at the Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Whitmire with Rev. Paul Rowe officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at the Whitmire Cemetery.
The family will greet visitors prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home.
