Ralph Floyd Caldwell, formerly of Whitmire, SC passed away Saturday, April 4, 2026 at NHC Healthcare of Clinton at the age of 90.

Born December 8, 1935, Floyd was a son of the late Homer and Amy Kanning Caldwell. He attended North Greenville College and Newberry College before serving our country in the US Army 101st Airborne Division.

Lovingly known as “Turtle” since his youth, he enjoyed a slower pace of life and was never hurried. Turtle was happiest with simple things - playing a round of golf with his friends, grilling steaks in the summertime, watching sports with a trusted dog by his side, or cheering on the Clemson Tigers. Although Turtle was very easy-going, he was an avid golfer and became quite competitive on the golf course. In his later years, nothing brought a smile to his face more than spending time with his grandchildren.

Turtle is survived by his son, Arnie Caldwell (Keri) of Chapin; his daughter, Ali Perry (Scott) of Naples, FL; his three grandchildren, Ella and Ben Perry and Brayden McLeod. He is also survived by his former spouse and friend Fae Ebert and by a sister Joan Stevens.

In addition to his parents, Turtle is preceded in death by his brother, Zeke Caldwell and longtime friend and chosen brother, Irby Raines.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
