Patsy Madden Braswell, age 83, beloved wife of Glenn Edward “Eddie” Braswell, passed away suddenly Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at her home.
She was born in Greenwood, South Carolina on August 19, 1942 and was the daughter of the late John Ray Madden and Nora Morgan Madden. Patsy was the director of the First United Methodist Church Child Development Center for 20 plus years where she was also a faithful member. Patsy greatest joy was her grandchildren who she loved dearly. In her spare time, she enjoyed canning and sharing, and freezing fruits and vegetables. Many people know her as “Nana” because she had so much love for people. Her presences was well known as loving and kind, with a never ending passion for her church, her family and her friends. She touched many lives throughout her life.
In addition to her husband of 62 years, Patsy is survived by her son, John Glenn Braswell (Cheri) of Newberry; her daughter, Sue Elizabeth Spoone (Henry) of Mountville; her grandchildren, Hensley Spoone and Andrew Braswell; four great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and special friends Mike and Sandra Bostic.
A Memorial Service will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Laurens on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Gray Stallworth officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Fellowship Hall.
The family will be at their home, 302 Westminster Avenue, Laurens, SC 29360.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Laurens, PO Box 203, Laurens, SC 29360 or St. Jude’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
