Monica Denise Hughes

Monica Denice Hughes, age 57, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at her home.

She was born March 26, 1968, in Laurens, SC and was a daughter of the late Carl Kinard and Linda Faye Smith. Monica deeply loved her family and her murder mysteries. She was a creative person who enjoyed drawing and coloring. She was spunky with an outgoing personality and had a will to live out each day to its fullest.

Ms. Hughes is survived by her three daughters, Megan Seals (Paul), Brooke Simmons (Shawn), and Tiffany Gosnell (Trey); her grandchildren, Bryley Simmons, Aiden Seals, Paxton Simmons, Tanner Seals, and Birdie Gosnell; her sisters, Wendy McDowell (Donnie) and Misty Lyons; many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews; and two very special friends, Ann Seals and Pam Kelly.

In addition to her parents Ms. Hughes is preceded in death by her brother, Mitchell Kinard.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 14, 2025, at 4 PM at the Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Laurens. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home from 3 – 4 PM.
