Melvina Fuller Thacker

November 11, 1929 — June 22, 2013

I, Melvina F. Thacker decided to write my own obituary at my leisure so as to save my children the sadness of doing this human chore or just spare them the trouble.
On November 11, 1929, Louanna Deel Fuller gave birth to a baby girl which she gave the family name Melvina so that a family tradition would be carried on. Mom had a sister named Melvina and her brother Richard Deel had a daughter named Melvina. It seems to be a difficult name for some to say here in South Carolina and other places.
I have six sons: Lonnie Jr., Donnie Landus, Victor Wayne, Dennis Harley, Jeffery Jay, and Darrell Boy. I have 12 grandchildren: Roland (Chuckie) Thacker, Samantha Thacker, Donnie Landus Thacker, Jr., Walker John Thacker, Chad Wayne Thacker, Warren Harley Thacker, Jennifer Gwen Thacker, David Joe Thacker, Jeremy Jay Thacker, Kulena Tosh Bartley, Laquisha Tawn Perry, and Hannah Daryl Thacker and one step grandchild: Tiffany Holliday. I have 19 great-grandchildren: Jessica Corn, Kendall Hayworth, and Seth Lee; Micah and Nicolas Thacker; Kristen Thacker (deceased); Connor, Riley, and Mason Thacker; Joseph, Jacob, and Jessica Thacker; Nicole Thacker; Chanson, Colton, Kyaih, and Journee Perry; Nyla and Piper Bartley; and five step great-grandchildren.
I was born to Washington and Louanna D. Fuller on November 11, 1929 and married Lonnie Aster Thacker, Sr. on January 24, 1945 in Wise County, VA. Six sisters and one brother have gone home to be with the Lord: Martha Fuller, Bertha McFadden, and Lucy Deel of Wise, VA, Pruda Blankenship of Haysi, VA, Louisa Yates of Tarpon, VA, Margaret Owens of Abingdon, VA, and Garland Fuller of Joppa, MD. Earl Fuller of Dungannon, VA is the only surviving brother.
If I can be remembered for anything, just think on how God loves everyone, special, and without partiality. To live each day for Jesus and He wants us to love everyone. At least let us try to do our best. Pray for all those who do not know Jesus as their Saviour. May they be saved before time slips away from them? Their true love is in serving Jesus Christ who died for them on the Cross that they may have life eternal with him in Heaven.
Melvina F. Thacker died Saturday, June 22, 2013, at NHC in Laurens, SC.
