Maxie Leonard Reeder Jr., 57, of Laurens, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Aug 26th, 2025, after years of battling different forms of Cancer, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and unwavering dedication to those he loved.
Born in Clinton, SC on Aug 8th, 1968, to the late Maxie Leonard Reeder Sr. and the late Beverly Webb Reeder (Moore). Maxie was known for his generous spirit and strong sense of community. Throughout his life, he touched many hearts—whether through his work, his friendships, or his quiet acts of service. He was a man of principle, deeply committed to helping others, especially our Veterans, who he saw as our Nation’s Heroes. He was a South Carolina Notary Public, and a member of the Sons of the American Legion Squadron 25 (American Legion Post 25 Family Organization) in Laurens.
Maxie is survived by Maria Reeder (Wife), John Michael Reeder (Son), and Christopher Antonio Olivarez (Foster Son), who will carry forward his memory with love and pride. He was preceded in death by Maxie Sr. (Father), Beverly (Mother), Mike (Brother), John (Brother), Sandra (Sister), and Barry (Cousin).
Friends and family will gather to honor Maxie’s life on a later date, where stories will be shared, tears shed, and his impact celebrated, once remains are returned from his final wishes of donating his body to help educate those in the Piedmont Technical College’s Funeral Service Department.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Veterans Assistance and Support Foundation at PO Box 1806 Laurens, SC 29360, in recognition of Maxie’s lifelong commitment to supporting Veterans.
