Maudine Yarbrough McGee

Maudine Yarbrough McGee, 93, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 28, 2025. She died peacefully in her home while surrounded by her loving family.

Born on April 6, 1932, in Whitmire, South Carolina, to Robert Lee and Pauline Norton Yarbrough, Maudine was a lifelong resident of Clinton and lived a life defined by faith, service, and devotion to her Lord, her family, and her community. After graduating from Clinton High School, she married the love of her life and the boy next door, Francis Keith McGee, with whom she shared 68 cherished years of marriage before his passing in 2018.

For 25 years, Maudine dedicated herself to Whitten Center, where her compassion touched countless lives. Even after retiring, her heart for service never slowed—she continued her career with the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce for 14 more years. Beyond her professional work, she was a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church, actively serving in its many ministries, and giving her time generously as a volunteer at the Laurens County Hospital and Joanna Woodson School.

Maudine had a curious mind and a creative spirit. An avid reader and skilled crocheter, she found joy in learning and creating, often gifting her family and friends with the warmth of her handiwork. She also had a deep love of music and for many years she shared her gift of song in the Calvary Baptist Church choir and as a member of the Laurens County Chorale.

Her legacy lives on through her children—Lynn M. Breedin (Bill) of Blythewood, Stephen W. McGee (Phyllis) of Greenwood, and Cyndi M. Ellison (Jimmy) of Clinton; her brother, Rev. Dr. Edgar Yarbrough of Statesville, NC; her grandchildren, Claire Breedin Jones (Brandon) of Blythewood, Graham McGee (Hailey) of Yulee, FL, and Kelsey McGee Hutchins (Kyle) of Bordentown, NJ; and her precious great-grandchildren, Baylor Jones and Perry Hutchins. She is reunited in heaven with her husband, her parents, and her brother, Michael Yarbrough. Her family takes comfort in knowing that her kindness, faith, and love will continue to ripple through the generations she so dearly cherished.

A graveside service will be held Sunday, August 31, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Pinelawn Memory Gardens, with Rev. Phil Bryson and Rev. Mark Entrekin officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice of VIA Health Partners, PO Box 178, Clinton, SC 29325.
