Mary B. Smith, age 78 of Clinton SC, widow of Charlie Lester Smith, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026. She was born in Clarksville Georgia and was the daughter of the late Agnes P. Border. She was a member of Holly Grove Baptist Church. She worked with the Clinton School System as a teacher’s aide and later as a foster grandparent, where she enjoyed many years of working with children. Mary was outgoing and delighted with many friends and neighbors. Mary was member of the Red Hat Society, Newberry SC Chapter.
She is survived by her son, Charlie L Smith, II (Tammy) of Clinton; her daughter Julie Sorenson Davis (Bryan) of Woodruff; her grandson, Keaton Ryan Smith (Jordan) of Clinton, her grandchildren, Chandler Gray Sorenson, Jackson Keith Davis, Brayden David Smith, Madysen Elizabeth Smith, Khloe Estelle Smith, Paisley Eufaula Smith her great-grandson Charlie Alexander Smith, her daughter of heart Pamela Cathcart and children and very special cousin Barbara Powers (Jack) of Mount Airy Ga.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at 4:00 PM, at Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Clinton, with a private burial immediately following at Pinelawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM prior to the service at Gray Funeral Home in Clinton.
