Louis "Wayne" Murphy

Louis “Wayne” Murphy, age 88, widower of Zander Motes Murphy, passed away July 2, 2026 at NHC Healthcare of Clinton.

He was born in Joanna, South Carolina on June 23, 1938 and was the son of the late Millard Murphy and Callie Putnam Murphy. Wayne retired from GE Ceramics in Laurens. He was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Joanna, serving as a Deacon, RA Leader and Choir Member. He loved his family and his church family.

Wayne is survived by his son; Scott Murphy (Sheri) of Prosperity; his daughters, Lynn Mosteller (Randy) of Elloree, Angie Nelson (Wade) of Clinton; his brother, Bruce Murphy (Gloria) of Ninety Six; his sister, Gail Murphy of Clinton; his grandchildren, Karen Grantham (Kenn), Chris Nelson (Melissa), Josh Nelson, Jordan Murphy, Maranda Kowalski (Shawn), Jacob Murphy ( Liliana); his eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and his wife Zander of 64 years, Wayne is preceded in death by a great-grandson, Landon Nelson.

Funeral Services will be held on July 5, 2026 at 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Joanna with Rev. Austin Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

The family will greet friends in the church sanctuary from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM prior to the service.
