Loretta Gibson Lanier

Loretta Gibson Lanier, age 96, of Whitmire, SC, widow of James Richard Lanier, passed away, Saturday, December 9, 2023 at her home.
Born October 2, 1927 in Swain County, NC, she was a daughter of the late James Walter and Hettie Roland Gibson. Loretta retired from J.P. Stevens - Whitmire Plant. She loved reading her Bible and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Lanier was a member of Central Avenue Baptist Church.
She is survived by her brother, Ed Gibson of Whitmire; her sister, Mary Alice Nelson of Whitmire; two grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Donald Richard Lanier.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at Lee Cemetery with Rev. Glen Walker officiating.
The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the graveside.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Avenue Baptist Church, 524 Central Avenue, Whitmire, SC 29178.
