Lewis Bass, age 87, of 417 Robin Lane and widower of Betty H. Bass, passed away Monday, June 20, 2016 at the Hospice Care of the Piedmont in Greenwood, SC.
He was born in Kershaw County and was a son of the late Redden and Arrie Reynolds Bass. Mr. Bass was retired from the Clinton Mills, was a member of the Lydia Church of God, he was also a veteran of the SC National Guard. He was an avid fisherman, he enjoyed playing his guitar, especially in the church, and will be remembered as the neighborhood “Papa”.
Mr. Bass is survived by two sons, James Bass of Laurens, Joey Bass (Lori) of Clinton; a daughter, Melia Newton (Bryon) of Laurens; three sisters, Mary Lee, Betty Ruth, and Billie; twelve grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is predeceased by a daughter, Mildred Diane Roberts.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 23rd at 11 AM at the Lydia Church of God with burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Laurens.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening at the funeral home from 6 to 8 PM.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Hospice Care of the Piedmont, 408 W Alexander Ave, Greenwood, SC 29646.
