Lacy Ginn Cannon

After a brief, yet brave battle with cancer, Lacy Cannon (76) of 18339 Hwy 72 E, passed away. She was born in Clinton and was the daughter of William and Ann Ginn.

Lacy is survived by her loving husband, John Cannon, granddaughter, Laney Cannon, and grandson, Chris Cannon. She is also survived by her sister & best friend, Patricia (Paul) Edwards, and brothers Cecil (Linda) Ginn and Roger (Fay) Ginn. She was predeceased by her son, Will Cannon, and her sister, Kathy Woods.

She was the eldest of five siblings, who took on the role of parent and never really stopped. She had a hand in raising just about every member of our family. Her grandchildren, Laney and Chris, as well as most of their friends in some capacity. Nana & Bop’s house has never known a closed door or a stranger, always ready to receive help whoever needed it. Life made her strong, loyal & resilient, she made everyone else loved & heard and seen.

But even with all that love, there was one love that tops them all. John was smitten with Lacy from (literally) the first time he laid eyes on her. Once he worked up the nerve to ask her on a date the week after Christmas, their wedding was the following spring. Over 55 years of a once in a lifetime love. They danced through life arm in arm through the best and worst it had to offer. They were always taking care of each other…obviously Lacy a little more in charge. They left us all with a lasting impression of steadfast partnership & dedication.

Please join family and friends for a drop-in visitation that is the spirit of Lacy - an uplifting time of sharing memories and sharing her desserts with a stout cup of coffee in hand.

The drop-in visitation will be held Sunday, November 23, from 5:45-7:30 at The Makery (105 W. Pitts St, Clinton, SC). There will be a scripture reading at 6:30 for those who would like to be present.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Laurens County, P O Box 178 Clinton, SC 29325 (hospiceoflaurenscounty.org) where Lacy was a dedicated volunteer and employee for 15+ years at the Hospice Thrift Store.
