Kathryn J. Dicus
Kathryn J. Dicus, of 303 ½ West Maple Street, passed away on December 10, 2015 at the Presbyterian Home of Clinton.
Kat, to those who knew and loved her, was born June 19, 1925 to William Anderson Dicus and Mattie Ban Browning Dicus.
A lifetime resident of Clinton, Kat was a graduate of Presbyterian College and Clinton High School. A career in banking included management positions with the former Bank of Clinton, First National Bank of SC, and as a vice president of South Carolina National Bank upon retirement.
In addition to her career, Kat was co-founder of The Tweed Shop ladies apparel in Clinton for many years.
In the community she was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church where she served for many years as a Sunday school teacher and volunteer. In addition, Kat was a Campfire Girl and troop leader to many of the Clinton youth organizing community projects and activities.
She was also a charter member of The Clinton Cotillion Club where she organized a sub-debutante club for many of the local young women in the community.
She is survived by her nieces Mary Woodley Dicus and Mary Elizabeth Ferriter and nephews William Anderson Dicus III and William James Ferriter, and numerous Godchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 17 at 3 PM at the Presbyterian Home Chapel with a reception following at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. Forrest Adair at 307 West Walnut Street, Clinton.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Coastal Community Foundation of SC, 635 Rutledge Avenue, Suite 201, Charleston, SC 29403, in support of the Martha B. Dicus Fund for Public Service; or to Hospice of Laurens County, P.O. Box 178, Clinton, SC 29325.
