Kathleen Weisel Douglas, 78, wife of the late John Thompson Douglas Jr., passed away August 19, 2026. Known as “Taffy” to friends and family, she was a beloved mother and grandmother. She was a Sunday school teacher and member of Fourth Presbyterian Church and of the Assembly. She studied at Florida Presbyterian, now Eckerd College, and Furman University.
She was an accomplished artist, avid reader and writer, and family Scrabble champion. She will be long remembered for her kindness, generous heart and love for children.
Surviving are two daughters, Kathleen Douglas Churches and Rosa Douglas Dunbar and her husband, Travis; three brothers, Charles Weaver Weisel, Jr., George Palmer Wise and Thomas John Weisel; and three granddaughters, Lillian Fair Churches, Allison Marie Churches, and Rosa Kathleen Churches, all of Greenville.
A Memorial Service will be Sunday at 1:00 p.m., August 23, 2026 at Fourth Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Mike Hoyt officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, please honor Taffy with donations to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, 5757 Waterford District Drive Suite 310, Miami, FL 33126.
