Johnny “John” Dale Higgins, age 82, husband of Jo-Ann Higgins, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at Martha Franks Retirement Center.

He was born in Madison, Wisconsin on September 30, 1944 and was the son of the late Dale Wilmer Higgins and Rose Lorriane Beans Higgins.

Johnny was a proud US Army Veteran serving our county in the Vietnam War as an Army Ranger. He received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his courageous service. In his younger years, he worked as a film developer at Hugh Anderson College in Crown Point, Indiana. Johnny as worked many years at Pizza Hut and was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church in Taylors.

Johnny is survived by his wife Jo-Ann of 43 years, his brothers, Gary Higgins, Benjamin Higgins, Dan Higgins.

In addition to his parents, Johnny is preceded in death by his brother, David Higgins.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Faith Baptist Church, 500 West Lee Road, Taylors, SC with Rev. Marshall Fant officiating. The family will greet friends at the church at 10:00 AM prior to the service.

Burial with Full Military Honors will be held at MJ “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery on Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Marshall Fant officiating.
