John Thomas Duncan Sr.

John T. Duncan, Sr. passed away on Tuesday evening, April 14th, 2015.
Born in Rock Hill, South Carolina, on September 2nd, 1937, to James Holt Duncan and Lena Bennett Duncan, John was an alumnus of Rock Hill High School. He graduated from Clemson A&M College in 1961, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management, being the first in his family to graduate from college. He is survived by his wife, Dianne; two sons: John and his wife, Marllyn; and Jeff and his wife, Melody; and five grandsons, Jeremy and his wife, Somer, Adam, Graham, John Philip, and Parker.
While at Clemson, John was a member of Kappa Sigma Nu fraternity. He was also a Master Mason, Simpsonville Lodge No. 311 AFM. He was a member of the Clemson Alumni Association and a member of IPTAY, since 1978. John served in the Army National Guard from 1953 to 1962, rising to the rank of Sgt. 1st Class. He enjoyed a successful career in the textile industry from 1962 to 1998, serving several companies in SC, NC, and Virginia, retiring as a Vice President with Arkwright Mills in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He attended First Baptist Church of Clinton, SC and the Randall Sunday School Class.
The family says, “He was an awesome husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, friend, Christian man, Clemson die-hard, hunter, fisherman, and protector of his family. We miss you and you will forever be in our hearts”.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 17th from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Gray Funeral Home, in Clinton, SC. Graveside Services will be held on Saturday afternoon, at 2 P.M., April 18th, 2015, at Grandview Memorial Park in Rock Hill, SC.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in his memory to The Alzheimer’s Association of SC, 4124 Clemson Blvd. Suite L., Anderson, SC 29621; IPTAY, 200 Avenue of Champions, Clemson, SC 29634; or the 1st Baptist Church of Clinton, PO Box 95, Clinton, SC 29325.
