Joann Lenora Buzhardt Wesberry, 84, died on March 13, 2026 at the Presbyterian Community of Clinton, S.C. She was the youngest child and only daughter of the late H.O. and Tillie Buzhardt and little sister of the late M.O. Buzhardt and Leon Buzhardt (Margaret). She graduated from Batesburg-Leesville High School in 1959 and attended the University of South Carolina, where she met the late W.C. “Bill” Wesberry. They were married for 31 years and raised their 3 children in Batesburg: Lisa Lanora Weaver (Bill), Krista Katrina Berg (Brian), and William Wain.
While Bill often traveled in sales, Joann kept the home fires burning. She was a loving mother who instilled a love for God, good manners, higher education, music lessons, and New Smyrna Beach into the hearts of her children. Joann was a sharp, hard-working business owner. She opened a Merle Norman franchise in Batesburg, operated Carriage House Catering, and was an Office Manager for Rawls Auto Auction before owning and operating the Saluda River Resort for 16 years. Joann loved dancing, playing bridge, cooking, shopping at Mae’s, dressing with pizazz, visiting estate sales, and decorating homemade pound cakes, each one a work of art.
She was active in the First Baptist Church of Batesburg for many years before becoming Presbyterian (B-L Presbyterian; First Presbyterian of Clinton; First Presbyterian Fernandina Beach; South Jacksonville Presbyterian). She was ordained a Deacon in 2016 in Fernandina and led a variety of food ministries. Joann is survived by her children and 5 grandchildren. Being “Nana” to Tucker and Sutton Allendorf, Neal Weaver, and Will and Aubrey Wesberry was the joy of her life. Being a great-grandmother to Wes and Archie Allendorf made life even sweeter.
A memorial service will be held at the Presbyterian Community of Clinton at 11:00 AM on March 28th with a time to greet family afterwards. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial gifts in memory of Joann to the Clinton Presbyterian Communities: 801 Musgrove Street, Clinton SC, 29325.
