Jerry "Dean" Sanders

Early morning, April 1, 2026, Dean was taken from this earth to be with his Heavenly Father.

Born August 3, 1952, in Whitmire, SC, he was the son of the late Andrew Marion Sanders and Jewell Miller Sanders. Dean retired from the postal service after many years and was also a tax accountant in the Whitmire community.

Whether he was preparing for a trip to Disneyworld or to Panama City Beach, he was always anxious to spend time with his family. He was an avid USC Gamecock fan, even when pressured to watch Alabama football on his many trips to Alabama for Thanksgiving and Christmas. He was also a devoted Atlanta Braves fan.

Most importantly, he loved God and his church, Heritage Wesleyan of Whitmire, in which he was the treasurer for most of his adult life. He loved people. He had a desire to help and encourage the community by his actions. He admired his three nieces, Niki, Cori, and Ashley and always enjoyed spending time with them.

He is survived by his brother, Bill (Denise) of Gadsden, Alabama, his nieces, Niki Bane (Avery, Riley, Joshua, Luke), Cori Wagner (Matt), and Ashley, also from Gadsden.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 7. 2026 at Heritage Wesleyan Church, Broome St, Whitmire, at 2:30 PM with Rev Mark Stephenson officiating. Burial will follow at Whitmire Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 6. 2026 at Gray Funeral Home in Whitmire from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM.
