James Grady Spoone

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of James Grady Spoone, 83, of Mountville, SC who passed away on May 1, 2026 at his home.

He was born February 20, 1943 in Clinton, SC to late William Henry Spoone, Sr and late Jessie Inez Forrester Spoone.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, William Spoone Jr, Horace Spoone, Bob Spoone, Bruce Spoone, Pearl Boniface, Betty Hairston, Grace Black, and Laverne Clark.

Grady is survived by past wife, Susan Freida Foster Spoone, sons: Grady E. Spoone (Belinda) and Freddie Henry Spoone (Sue); daughter: Veronica Spoone Oakes (Richard); grandchildren: Adam James Spoone (Kaylin), Sara Spoone Bass (Remington), Hensley Rebecca Spoone, Trey Oakes and Charlie Oakes, siblings: David Spoone (Pat) and Henrietta Hazel (Darryl)

He was known for his love of gardening, handy work, horsemanship, fishing, and golfing. A proud member of Lisbon Presbyterian Church of Mountville, SC. He was a helpful friend, good father and grandfather.
