James E. Parsons

James E. Parsons, a devoted man of faith, skilled craftsman, and beloved family patriarch, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 21st, 2026 at Prisma Health-Greenville Memorial Hospital at the age of 77. James was born on September 4th, 1948 in Jonesville, Virginia.

A Life Rooted in Faith and Family, James was a faithful and active member of Faith Baptist Church in Laurens, SC. His life was defined by his deeply personal relationship with Jesus, a faith that guided his actions, filled his heart, and shone through his kindness to everyone he met.

More than anything, James was a family man. He was a deeply loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He took immense pride in his family, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and strong values that will be carried on through the generations he blessed.

A true outdoorsman, James found peace and joy in God’s creation. He loved nothing more than casting a line while fishing, spending quiet afternoons in nature, and riding horses. His passion for horses went beyond just riding; he truly loved teaching others the art of horsemanship, passing down his knowledge and respect for animals to anyone eager to learn.

James was also a remarkably hard worker. Gifted with his hands, he was a natural fixer who could tinker with, repair, or build just about anything. If it was broken, James was the man to call, and he always lent his skills with a generous and willing heart.

James is predeceased by his parents, Elmer Parsons and Vivian Hammond Parsons; loving wife, Joann V. Parsons and his siblings Vivian Strain, Keith Parsons, and John Parsons.

James is survived by his children, James Parsons (Angie), Peggy Taylor (Frankie), Crystal English (Jerry), Bryan Parsons (Tammy), and Angel Parsons, and numerous grandchildren and cherished great grandchildren, his siblings Gordon Parsons, Jeff Parsons, Doug Parsons, Katherine Bogan, and Joyce Price, a beloved companion Gwen Hipp.

A celebration of James's life and faith will be held on Wednesday, May 27th at Faith Baptist Church in Laurens, SC with Rev. William Cole and Rev. David Lancaster officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. and the funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m.

Burial will follow the service at Westview Memorial Park in Laurens, S.C.
