Gladys Hipp Corley Gilliam, age 90, formerly of Newberry, Saluda (SC) and Clinton, and widow of Thomas Allen Corley, Sr. and the Rev. James O. Gilliam, died Friday, November 20, 2015.
She was born in Newberry County and was a daughter of the late Joseph Fincher Hipp, Sr. and Sarah Sligh Hipp.
Mrs. Gilliam was very active in her churches throughout recent decades, including Hopewell United Methodist Church in the Hopewell Community near Joanna, St. Paul United Methodist Church in Saluda, and Springdale United Methodist Church in Clinton. She served in many capacities with local and statewide chapters of the United Methodist Women.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Marie Corley of Greenville.
Mrs. Gilliam was predeceased by her daughter, Dianna C. Bowers; her son, Thomas Allen Corley, Jr.; her grandson, John B. Clements, Jr.; and her siblings, Evelyn Hipp Polson, Carol M. Hipp, Joseph Fincher Hipp, Jr., Mildred Hipp Hunter Chapman, and Marjorie Hipp Kirkpatrick.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 24th, at 3:00 PM, at Bailey Manor Chapel, with burial services at Pinelawn Memory Gardens immediately following.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
