Gere Thomas Walden

Gere Thomas Walden, age 41, resident of Greenville, passed away Monday, December 1, 2025 while working in Wisconsin.

He was born September 24, 1984 in Spartanburg, SC, and was the son of Janice Peace and the late Michael Walden, Sr. Gere graduated from Woodruff High School and spent 11 years working in the tower industry, a job he truly enjoyed. One of his nicknames was “Jiggy,” given after he performed Will Smith’s “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It” at a school talent show. He loved spending time outdoors, especially by the river, which was one of his favorite places to take his kids. Gere also enjoyed carpentry and building things with his hands. He was an avid sports fan who loved the Clemson Tigers.

Gere is survived by his wife, Autumn Walden of Spartanburg, and his mother, Janice Peace of Clinton; his son, Thomas Walden of Spartanburg; his stepchildren, Keonté Gage and Kadyn Gage, and Kennedy Romero, all of Spartanburg; his siblings, Timmy Walden, and Ricky Walden, both of Greenville, Michael Walden Jr. (Ashley) of Mississippi, Dakota Patterson of Spartanburg, and Michelle Walden of Greenville; and his maternal grandparents, Curtis and Jessie Oswalt of Joanna.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Clinton. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Memory Gardens.

The family will greet visitors Friday, December 12, 2025 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
