Freddie Steven McLendon, Sr., age 78, of Clinton, SC, beloved husband of Debbie Bagwell McLendon for 55 years, passed away, Sunday, November 9, 2025 at his home.
Freddie was born on June 8, 1947 in Clinton, SC, and was the son of the late Justin Eason and Christine McDaniel McLendon. He was a Graduate of Clinton High School class of 1968, and was a proud veteran of the US Army, serving in the Vietnam War in the 101st Airborne Division. After his military service, he retired from the United States Postal Service as a Postal Carrier in 2001. He loved spending time with family, playing golf, hunting and fishing, and cheering on the Clemson Tigers. He was a member of Shining Light Church of Clinton.
In addition to his loving wife, Freddie is survived by sons, F. Steven McLendon, Jr. (Tara) of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Michael Shane McLendon (Morgan) of Orangeburg, SC; his granddaughter, Kaydence McLendon; his siblings, Teddy McLendon (Melissa), and Betty Samples, both of Clinton; two special nieces, Abby Bartley and Aubree Bartley of Laurens; and special nephew, Josh McLendon (April) of Clinton.
In addition to his parents, Freddie was preceded in death by his brother, Jack McLendon.
Funeral Services with Military Honors will be conducted Thursday, November 13, 2025 at 1:00 PM, at the Pinelawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Tony Irby and Rev. Randall Messick officiating, with burial to follow.
The family will greet visitors prior to the service from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm at the mausoleum chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shining Light Church of Clinton.
