Faye Kirkland, 82, resident of Fountain Inn, SC, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2026 at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home.
She was born July 27, 1943, to the late James E. Meece and Vaudie Meece nee Willis. Faye was an active member of Ware Shoals First Baptist Church while her children were growing up, was a Children’s Sunday School teacher and continued attending services there for many years. She was a dedicated employee at Regal Textile Mill in Ware Shoals until they closed. She then moved the family to Newnan, Georgia where she worked as a supervisor at Southern Mills before moving back to South Carolina.
Faye always had a love of gardening and travel. She was able to combine these two loves by visiting botanical gardens in many states as well as overseas. Her love of her family dictated everything she did and her pride in her children’s accomplishments was evident whenever you spoke with her. She was happiest when having family and friends over to the house where she could share the flowers she was currently growing and cooking them a fabulous meal. Her job expertise led her to the hobby of quilting and she loved nothing more than to make a special quilt to gift to someone.
Faye is survived by her children: Colie (Celia) Timmerman, Terrie Watts and David (Mischelle) Timmerman; Grandchildren Lauren Timmerman, Patrick Bollinger, Justin Watts, Dustin Watts, Tristin Timmerman, Ryan Timmerman, Tanner Timmerman, Tristan Jewell, Mycah Jewell and Gracie Raine Jewell; Great-Grandchildren Josie, Lucia and Anna.
In addition to her parents, Faye is preceded in death by Arthur “KC” Kirkland, Daughter Miranda Timmerman, brothers William Meece, Edward Meece and Robert Meece, sisters Ruth Meece, Margaret Brown, Elizabeth Tester and Ruby O’Dell.
Funeral services will be held at Greenwood Memorial Gardens Chapel, Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 2:00 pm with the graveside commitment immediately following. The family will receive friends at the Chapel beginning at 1:00 pm.
