Eleanor "Lena" Blackwell Lawson

Eleanor “Lena” Blackwell Lawson, age 88, widow of Homer Lawson, passed away March 10, 2026 at Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Community.

She was born in Clinton, South Carolina on September 10, 1937 and was the daughter of the late Norman Blackwell and Ethel Patterson Blackwell.

Lena was a 1955 graduate of Clinton High School where she was a majorette, a faithful member of Davidson Street Baptist Church, a graduate of Piedmont Technical College with a 4.0 GPA after raising her children, retired from Whitten Center and the last surviving member of her family.

Lena is survived by her three daughters, Linda Gault (Carter), Susan Anderson, and Cathy Miller (Lee); nine grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren (with one expected in June).

A private family service was held with Rev. Marie Miller and Mr. Eddie Marshall vocalist.

The family wishes to give heartfelt thanks for the love and care of Lena to the Martha Franks Staff Unit #2 and Luthern Hospice.
