Eleanor Morrison Lawson

Eleanor Morrison Lawson, age 97, of Whitmire, SC, widow of Johnnie Eugene Lawson, Sr., passed away, Monday, June 9, 2025, at Lexington Memorial Hospital.

She was born on December 31, 1927, in Henderson County, NC, and was the daughter of the late Burgain Holmes and Lillie Hill Morrison. She dedicated her career to serving the community as assistant librarian at the Whitmire War Memorial Library and was an active member of the Sullivan Dunkin Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and the First Baptist Church of Whitmire. Eleanor had a passion for genealogy and cherished spending time with her family.

Eleanor is survived by her son, Johnnie Lawson (Gloria) of Whitmire; her daughter, Elizabeth Lawson Brown of Whitmire; her grandchildren, Felicia Dawn Mosley, Johnathan Dean Brown, Kristin Lawson Moore (James); great-grandchildren, Autumn Raine Brown, Jarrett Glenn Bruce, Jr., and Hunter Layne Brown; and her sister, Millie Gwinn.

In addition to her parents and husband, Eleanor was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Candice Suber Bruce; her sisters, Dorothy Ann McDowell, Ruth Morrison, Pauline Strickland, Helen Armstrong Coates, and Evelyn Wilson; and her brother, D.L. Morrison.

Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM, Friday, June 13, 2025 at Whitmire First Baptist Church with Rev. Jarrod King officiating. Burial will follow at the Whitmire Cemetery.

The family will greet visitors prior to the service from 2:00-3:00 PM, at the Church.
