Elaine Boyce (Cook) League

Elaine Boyce (Cook) League, 81, of Clinton, SC passed away at Emerald Gardens Assisted Living in Greenwood, SC on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.

She was born on June 23, 1944 in Clinton, SC to the late J.E. and Mary Buff Boyce. She was raised in Joanna, SC and graduated from Clinton High School (1962) and Winthrop College (1966). She was a PE teacher for many years at various schools, retiring from Bell Street Middle School in 2001 after more than 20 years. She was a basketball and volleyball coach as well as teacher, and in her free time she was active playing tennis, swimming or walking and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She also enjoyed volunteering at the church food bank, the United Ministries and the Hospice Thrift Store. In 2012 she received a Distinguished Alumni award from her beloved Winthrop.

Elaine is survived by her children, Meredith (Billy) Pitts of Greenwood, SC and Christian Cook of Clinton, SC; stepchildren: Cindy (Ed) Donald of Greenville, SC and Kevin (Cedar) League of Montana. Her grandchildren: Rylan and Landon Pitts, Jordan Cook, and Emily League and great­- grandchildren Salah Sprouse and Pierson Porter.

She was predeceased by her husband Harry League as well as her sisters, Barbara B. Glenn and Sue B. Misenheimer.

Elaine was cared for by many wonderful souls during her decline. She was especially close to Martha Cunningham while still living independently at home. Then later countless others at Emerald Gardens loved her as if she were their own. The family is forever indebted to these ladies for their loving kindness.

A Visitation will be held Friday, January 23, 2026 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Gray Funeral Home of Clinton. A Private Burial will be held at a later date.
