Dayna Ruth Windsor Hill, 76, passed away peacefully at home on the morning of November 4, 2026, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Dayna was born on July 1, 1950 at Hays Hospital in Clinton, South Carolina, to the late Carl Stanley “Tan” Windsor and Margaret Ruth Blease Windsor (Price). The proud daughter of a Naval officer, she moved around often in her childhood, with lengthy stretches of time spent in Norfolk, VA, and North Charleston, SC. She formed many fond memories in these places, as well as on the “mill hill” of Clinton where her grandparents, aunts, and uncles lived. Following her dad’s retirement from the Navy, the family returned to Clinton where she graduated from Clinton High School in 1968. She married Ronnie “Ron” Hill in May 1969 and had a daughter, Christy, before moving to Greenville and later settling in Simpsonville in 1975.
Most of Dayna’s career was spent in retail, managing So Fro Fabrics at McAlister Square, Record Bar at Haywood Mall, and Wolf Camera on Woodruff Road. She loved traveling (especially to New England), colonial American history, Norman Rockwell, Masterpiece Classic shows, the Beatles and Stevie Nicks, among so many other interests about which she was so passionate. Most of all, she enjoyed time spent with her family, particularly her grandsons of whom she was incredibly proud.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ron; her daughter and son-in-law, Christy Staton and husband Glenn; two grandsons, Andrew Staton and wife Meagan, and Nicholas Staton; two great-grandchildren, Violet Staton and Lucy Staton; a brother, Tony Windsor and wife Mary; an aunt (who was more like a sister), Nancy Bass; and many cousins and distant relatives that she was very fond of.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Clinton. Friends and family are invited to join in a visitation to celebrate Dayna’s life from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Gray Funeral Home of Clinton prior to the service.
A private burial will be held at Pinelawn Memory Gardens.
The family wishes to thank the Via Healthcare team for their help during Dayna’s final months, particularly Melinda and Ashley.
