Claude (C.T.) Merchant, age 87, passed away Friday, September 19, 2014 at the NHC of Laurens.
He was born in Newberry County and was a son of the late Claude Tillman and Lillie Mae Johnson Merchant.
Mr. Merchant was retired from Greenwood Mills and was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his sons Curtis Merchant of Laurens, Eugene Merchant of Clinton and Wayne Merchant of Newberry; his daughters Diane Parks of Laurens, Carolyn Huey of Laurens and Kathy Deadwyler of Clinton; his sister Thelma Harris of Clinton; sixteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife Mary Deyton Merchant, his son Frank Merchant and his daughter Colleen Young.
Graveside services will be held on Sunday, September 21st at 4:00 p.m. at Little River Dominick Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends after the service.
