Christopher "Chris" L. Moore

Christopher “Chris” L. Moore, age 51, of Clinton, husband of Melissa Bentley Moore, passed away, Monday, May 4, 2026 at his home.

He was born March 25, 1975 in Greenwood, SC, and was the son of Margaret Gray Lanford of Cross Hill and the late James Calhoun Moore. Chris was a 1994 graduate of Thornwell High School and retired from Clinton Police Department in 2024 as a Lieutenant, where he proudly served for 25 years. During his years there, he earned Officer of the year in 2020. He was a member of Davidson Street Baptist Church, where he served as a member of the safety team.

Chris was an amazing husband, father, son, and uncle. He loved playing games, watching his children excel in their sports, and activities, and taking family trips. He was known by many for his big personality, sense of humor, and sarcasm.

He is survived by his wife, Melissa, their children, Harrison Moore of Clinton, Taylor Moore Beitz (Justin) of Hanahan, and Graycen Moore of Clinton. He is also survived by his brother, Will Moore (Alexis) of Greenville; his mother-in-law, Rosemary Marcy; his nieces and nephews, Aspen Moore, Rowan Moore, Dorian Burgess, Cannon Griffin, and Kolin Bentley; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Elizabeth Burgess.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, May 7, 2026 at 4:00 pm at Davidson Street Baptist Church with Rev. Kenny Moore, Rev. Dr. Benny Littlejohn, and former Clinton Police Chief, Sonny Ledda, officiating.

The family will greet visitors immediately following the service at the Church.
