Mrs. Carolyn Benson Penland, 79, widow of Jack Penland died peacefully, September 2, 2024, at her home, Langston Square, in Clinton, S.C.
Mrs. Penland was born April 29, 1945 in Wilmington, N.C., daughter of the late Mary Emily and William A. Benson.
She was also predeceased by her brothers, Samuel R. Benson and Charles M. Benson.
Mrs. Penland served for many years as the Administrator of the Laurens Memorial Home. She was involved in her community and was the recipient of the Joanna Lions Club Citizen of the Year and was a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow.
Mrs. Penland was a member of the Rocky Springs Presbyterian Church, Laurens, S.C.
A service of witness to the resurrection will be held on Wed., September 4, 2024 at 11 am at the graveside, Rocky Springs Presbyterian Church Cemetery, with Rev. Robert Brozina and Rev. Dr. Tom Malone officiating.
Mrs. Penland is survived by nieces and nephews. She wanted to thank her loyal friends Ricky and Loretta Woodruff, Susan Curry, Jack Schwaberow, and the staff of Langston Square for their love and care.
She is also survived by her loving canine companion, Jackie.
In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Penland requested that memorials be made to Rocky Springs Presbyterian Church 1063 Rocky Springs Church Road, Laurens, S.C. 29360.
Gray Funeral Home of Clinton is assisting the Penland family with services.
