Billie Zane Bishop Boyden, 96 widow of Walter Boyden passed away on April 20, 2026. She was born on July 26, 1929 in Bowdon, Georgia to the late James B. and Nora Chambers Bishop. She moved to Hodges, SC to live with her older sister after her parents' death.
Billie was a graduate of Greenwood High School and attended Lander University. She was a proud member of the United States Navy during the Korean War. Billie and Walter were married in 1953 and lived in Virginia for 50 years. During that time, she was employed by the Arlington County Police Department. They moved to Clinton, SC in 2010 to be near family. She has lived at Langston Square Assisted Living for the last 2 ½ years. Billie loved music and sang in choirs and at weddings. She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church.
Billie was proceeded in death by her husband, parents, brother Kenneth Bishop, sister Nena B Nickles, niece Barbara Stone, nephew Thomas Nickles, and great nephew Thomas Stone. She is survived by a daughter Deborah Tumblin, granddaughters Rebecca Tumblin, Heather Keadle (Gene), Nancy Tumblin, and two great-grandsons Jacob and Gavin Keadle. Two nieces Jesseca Ferguson of Boston and Catherine Locatis of Edisto lsland. One nephew Robert Ferguson (Nancy) of South Dartmouth, MA and several great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank V-CARE Hospice, especially Sarah and Erika and Langston Square staff for all of their Loving Care. Burial Service will be private.
A Celebration of Life will be on May 2, 2026 at 10:30 AM at Thornwell Presbyterian Church. The family will greet friends following the service at Bryan Mac Cottage.
