Betty Jo Eason Copeland passed away January 23, 2018 at the Presbyterian communities of Clinton, SC. She was born in Whitmire, SC on June 19, 1927 and was the only child of Joseph S. Eason and Mildred Hipp Eason. She was a graduate of Furman University in 1947 and a teacher in the Laurens School District #56 for 35 years.
A long term member of First Presbyterian Church of Clinton, Betty Jo was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, George Pringle Copeland of Clinton. She is survived by a son, Dr. George P. Copeland of Clinton (wife Janet) and a daughter, Neely C. Blackmon (husband Charles S.) of Clinton. She is also survived by two grandsons, S. Joseph Blackmon (wife Jamie) of Brentwood, TN and Eric C. Blackmon (wife Lorie) of Mountville, SC, a granddaughter, Dr. Clayton A. Copeland of Columbia; four great-grandchildren, Allie, Sara, Justin and Kristen Blackmon.
A Memorial Service will be conducted Sunday, January 28, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church of Clinton. The family will receive friends following the service.
