Arthur Henry “Buster” Walker, Jr., age 92, of 4017 Indian Creek Rd, Kinards SC, went home to be with the Lord, August 15, 2016 at Providence Health Hospital in Columbia.
He was born June 10, 1924 in Kershaw, SC, he was the son the late Arthur H. Walker, Sr. and Florence E. Walker.
He was faithful member of Fairview Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Director, Congregational Leader, Choir Member, and Treasurer of the Brotherhood. Mr. Walker was also a member of the “Outreach Singers”. He is retired from Whitten Center, was the owner of Walker Art and Sign Company, bookkeeper for several companies including Suber Motor Company and Construction, formerly employed with the Charleston Naval Shipyard. He was a WWII Army Veteran and South Carolina National Guard veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Glennie Tinsley Walker of the home; his son, Robert B. Walker of Columbia, SC; his daughter, Elizabeth “Beth” Walker Russell of Irmo, SC; his grandson, Jacob Russell of Irmo, SC; his step-daughters, Kim Young of Clinton, Pam Snelgrove of Greenville, SC; his step-grandsons, Grayson and Hayden Snelgrove of Greenville, SC; his nephews, John C. Walker, Jr. (Judy) of Hartsville, SC, William “Bill” L. Walker of San Antonio, TX, Haskell A. Walker of Melbourne, FL; nieces, Susan Hogan (Jim) of Blythewood, Holly Browder of Lexington; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He is predeceased by his brother John C. Walker, Sr. of Whitmire and his sister, Ellen W. Drafts of Leesville, SC.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, August 18, 2016 at 2 PM at the Fairview Baptist Church with Military Honors. The family will receive friends an hour before the service from 1 to 2 PM at the church.
